Tarte’s 2017 Holiday Collection brought about some limited edition Holiday Sets that one couldn’t help but drool over. Hence, and thanks to my best friend for gifting this one which was exclusively created for the store, Macy’s (though I found that out later but oh well).
So, the Tartiest Trove Collector’s Set includes:
- 24 Amazonian Clay Eyeshadows (Mattes & Metallics)
- Amazonian Clay Blush
- Amazonian Clay Highlighter
- Amazonian Clay Bronzer
- Deluxe Sec Kitten Eyeliner
- Deluxe Tartiest Lash Paint Mascara
- Deluxe Tartiest Glossy Lip Paint in Minx
Coming to its most attractive element, packaging:
Well, Tarte never fails to attract with its (most of the time) decent packaging yet which is trendy. This time it chose a vibrant Moroccan-inspired print and incorporated some gold foil, on a cardboard box. As this set includes products from different categories hence, there was a need for multiple compartments. I’ve to say the shape of the set perfectly incorporates the different compartments without making it over flood with so many products. The overall packaging is quite sturdy and beautiful, and this might just be the sole reason due to which I got my hands on this set (hope it didn’t come off as a shock).
The upper (and the main) compartment contains 24 eyeshadows and a large mirror on the underside of the lid. While the two pull out to open, drawers on the side include the cheek colors and the deluxe samples, respectively.
And now here’s my review:
Deluxe Tartiest Lash Paint Mascara proved to be quite impressive. Gives the perfect volume the lash needs any day (also any time). Plus point: it totally adds that smokey effect to the eye and makes me wanna flaunt them (all the time).
Deluxe Tartiest Glossy Lip Paint in Minx has to be my favorite product from the entire set. Yes, that’s how much I like it because it is the exact nude shade I was looking for. Surprisingly, it has a super duper staying power and neither does it feel sticky on the lips.
Deluxe Sec Kitten Eyeliner a much satisfying product as per my opinion. It includes the qualities of being a good eyeliner: extremely smooth application as it glides smoothly and jet black in color (if something’s missing then you know why it’s just satisfying).
24 Amazonian Clay Eyeshadows came out as a great disappointment and took me a while to admit that they’re of an extremely poor quality. It was quite unexpected because I’m a huge fan of Tarte Bloom Eyeshadow Palette. They’re pretty chalky and powdery, and this is especially true for the matte ones. Therefore, they don’t build nor blend well. Similarly, the metallic ones are fallout-prone and poorly pigmented.
Amazonian Clay Blush – Highlighter – Bronzer is a little creamier compared to the eyeshadows but the pigmentation is far from being that of Tarte’s usual highlighters and blushes. In other words, not so promising.
To conclude, if you don’t own this palette then trust me you aren’t missing out on much (actually nothing at all).
