Review – Maybelline Colour Show Lipsticks – Red Edition

Hello dolls, I am back again with a new review which I am sure would help you all in learning more about Maybelline Colour Show Lipsticks and also if you love red lipsticks 😉 So, I received these three lipsticks sent to me by Maybelline and I couldn’t resist for long to try them out.

Out of three lipsticks which I received, the two of them were in shade M201 Bold Crimson and one was in 209 Red Liberation. I am reviewing both of them so you can decide for yourself whether these are your add to cart products or not. So they came to me in a very beautiful packaging with a black box having these lipsticks inside. You can see the packaging picture above. So I absolutely loved the packaging.

Anyways, it’s always a gamble for me to apply red lipsticks which I feel doesn’t really suit me and honestly, I do not like experimenting myself with dark or bright lip colours but as they looked so tempting that I thought to give it a try. So I appled them for quite a few times and was amazed that one of the colour looked quite good on me and that was M201 BOLD CRIMSON.

M201 Bold Crimson:

Aptly named as Bold Crimson, it is indeed a deep red with some hints of pink. It might look dark pink in some lighting and red in different lighting. It is not that bold, you can easily tone down the lipstick by just dabbing it lightly on your lips. The pigmentation is bang on. Love, love, love the shade and the pigmentation. Also, the colour which looked good on me but I prefer if you carry a bit darker complexion and more towards wheatish then trust me this is your shade, it will look amazing on you.

Adding on I really love matte lipsticks that are creamy and glide on easily. This one falls into that category. It is smooth, glides on easily, does not highlight dry patches and slightly moisturizes the lips. I really love the texture of it.

The only thing which could get better is its staying power. Overall, it turned out to be a good product.

209 Red Liberation:

This ‘Red Liberation’ is a nice tomato red shade with warm undertones. It is such a pretty and wearable shade of red for everyone but tricky at the same time. This red is very soft, is not exactly too bold but a bit bright. I absolutely love the pigmentation. One swipe can provide nice red lips. For the shade to show up perfectly, I need only two to three swipes. It is a really nicely pigmented color. There is no shimmer in this shade.

Once again its soft texture glides smoothly on the lips. It has a nice creamy formula which keeps my lips moisturized. It blends evenly on the lips. It also has a nice fruity scent which is not overpowering at all. The lipstick has a nice non- drying matte finish.

Again, the staying power is not very strong and could have been made better as due to the bright colour, it fades away easily.

I liked both the shades and would recommend everyone who is reading this to give them a try if you like bright bold reds. Best to compliment them with a white or black dress 😉
